The Evergreen Ball is the Vail Valley’s only environmentally sustainable gala event, with proceeds supporting the missions of the Eagle Valley Land Trust and the Eagle River Watershed Council. Dr. Tom Steinberg will be honored at The Evergreen Ball for his 46-year legacy of service to our mountain community.
A longtime environmentalist, Dr. Steinberg is the President Emeritus of both the Eagle Valley Land Trust and the Eagle River Watershed Council. “It is the tradition of The Evergreen Ball to honor an individual who has had an impact on environmental conservation, and we can think of no other person who has consistently made amazing contributions to land, water and life in our beautiful valley for nearly 50 years,” said Kara Heide, Executive Director of the Eagle Valley Land Trust. “We are extremely proud to honor Tom Steinberg at The Evergreen Ball this year for his passion, his commitment and his tireless work on behalf of our natural environment, our open spaces and our waterways here in Eagle County.”
The Evergreen Ball brings together community leaders, philanthropists, environmentalists and citizens of the Vail Valley to celebrate and support our greatest resources – our land and our water – while honoring a longtime guardian and defender of our environment. The purpose of The Evergreen Ball is to advance environmental awareness in our community while raising necessary funds for the two local organizations whose missions focus on environmental conservation in Eagle County – the local Land Trust and Watershed Council. Guests at The Evergreen Ball will enjoy an elegant, exciting and fun evening that will be thoughtfully conscience, “green” and gorgeous. The event will be 100% carbon neutral, purchasing carbon credits to offset its’ already minimized footprint.
The 2011 Evergreen Ball will be held at Vail’s first hotel, The Lodge at Vail. “When we thought of honoring, Dr. Steinberg, Vail’s first doctor and an icon of our community, we certainly felt it appropriate to host the event in Vail’s iconic hotel, The Lodge at Vail,” said Melissa Macdonald, Executive Director of The Eagle River Watershed Council.
In addition to honoring Dr. Tom Steinberg and celebrating our local land and water resources, The 3rdAnnual Evergreen Ball will also be a wildly fun party. The environmentally sustainable theme includes many unique “green” features to excite and inspire – including a specialty drink bar featuring bicycle powered blenders with “green men” mixing drinks for guests via pedal power (think ‘blue man group’ in green… and on a bike!) Guests to the event are encouraged to dress in “creative green tie” adding fun and whimsy to the evening.
